Many of our clients, although running very successful schools, are not familiar with the concept of hand to hand advertising. It is a concept that is much more familiar to industries like the music business, or traditionally done through mailing.

The reality is, if people don’t know you exist, they will not take advantage of your services. In this day and age, there is no business that is not faced with fierce competition; If you are not “getting out there”, someone else is , and they are getting your clients. Here are a few tips to put an end to that : )

Q: What can Impact Ad Cards do for my School?
First lets realize why we distribute Impact Ad Cards:

The most obvious reasons are:

1) Getting new students;

2) Educate the Public; Many parents are daily faced with struggles of getting their children focused on their scholastic duties, trying to integrate their kids with their peers; We know from experience that as school owners, the martial arts are just a part of our teaching duties; It should be your goal to make your students’ parents understand that Martial Arts’ building block is discipline, and the same discipline we develop at our schools comes home and goes to school; An ad campaign such as “Back to School With Focus” carries a message much more important to them then a karate move; They will see a benefit they may have not thought of otherwise.

Q: Yes, but how do I get them out?

a) APPROACH LOCAL BUSINESSES. Introduce yourself to the manager, plan a CROSS PROMOTION. Remember, you have to be creative! For example, offer to have their promotional materials, such as brochures, available at your school, in exchange for a display of your Dojo Printed material at their location. If they don’t have printed material, no problem, refer them to the Dojo!!! J Jokes aside, a simple business card exchange can be all it takes.

b) Remember, IT’S A NUMBERS GAME. You may not get into every business, but there should be no reason why you shouldn’t be able to find 50 -100 locations willing to promote their businesses for free in exchange of pushing yours. Plus, it’s a great way to get to know your neighbors!!!

c) Get Organized! Provide your own business card holders. Maybe even go as far as providing them with their own business card holders in your school! You can inexpensively purchase a business card holder that can hold dozen of business cards.

d) Do the above, and in no time, you will have placed 50-100 miniature billboards around town! It’s “Mathematics”; You will definitely generate new business.

e) Other ideas: “OK that’s Great, Any other thoughts???” Yes of course! Get involved with local schools (real schools!), maybe sponsor their sporting events; Also, Music Concerts… Circuses…Children events… Just think of this, a Barney show at your local Arena might draw thousands of children! Theyre not going to drive themselves!! Get your staff together, and during the show go to the venue parking lot and put a flyer under EVERY CAR’S windshield wiper… in just a few hours, you will be calling the Dojo… we can already hear you .. . “YOU ONLY PRINTED US 5000 FLYERS!!!”

We hope this tip has helped you thinking of ways to be creative with your advertising. You do NOT need to spend thousands of dollars in newspaper advertising to get your name out there. Remember, if they don’t know who you are, they will never be your client!!!
